Abstract
The Institute of Food Science & Technology (IFST) – the national body for anyone involved in food science and technology – updated its Information Statement on organic food yesterday (2 August).

The revisions come as more and more Brits are becoming interested in health and wellbeing, with the market worth an estimated £2.2 billion in the UK and accountable for 1.5% of the total food and drink sector.

Among topics discusses, the statement looks at current EU rules relating to organic food; rules on labelling; organic food from the customer perspective; and advice for food business looking to move into organic food production.
