HVS Executive Search to discuss female opportunities at breakfast briefing

15th Jun 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
The issue of why more women aren’t at the general manager level in the hospitality industry is to be discussed by female executives at a breakfast briefing, organised by global executive search specialist HVS Executive Search.
The briefing, at Dukes Hotel, London on 21 June 2011, will be co-hosted with The Leading Ladies of London Association, the organisation founded earlier this year to give a stronger voice to women working in senior positions in the capital's five-star hotels. A panel of female hospitality executives will debate the issue including: • Debrah Dhugga, general manager, Dukes Hotel London and founder of Leading Ladies of London • Tracey Chappell, gobal director of Spa Development, ESPA International • Alison Frith, owner and managing director, Artizian Catering • Jillian MacLean, managing director, Drake & Morgan and People 1st Outstanding Entrepreneur Award Winner. Session moderator Lorenza Alessie, a director at HVS Executive Search, said: "The fact only a small number of women achieve top positions in the hospitality sector demonstrates that this is a real issue. Our panel of leading female executives will examine what is stopping more women achieving great things in the industry and why the industry is still primarily male-dominated – it will make for a fascinating and topical discussion." The Leading Ladies of London Association was founded by Debrah Dhugga, Anne-Marie Dowling, general manager of Guoman's The Royal Horseguards Hotel, and Theresa Maw, general manager of the Renaissance Chancery Court hotel. The aim of the organisation, which is only open to women heading five-star hotels in the capital, is to bring together a group of female leaders who, via regular meetings and events, can discuss industry demands, business issues, ideas and best practice.
