Human vending machines make their UK debut

3rd Mar 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Commuters passing through London's Victoria station will be able to experience the latest Japanese craze from tomorrow – human vending.
Customers put their money in as normal but instead of having their chosen product dispensed by a machine, a human vendor will deliver the goods. The unique vending machines are part of Kit Kat's 'Working like a machine' campaign, which centres on the idea that people overexert themselves and operate like machines. Kit Kat say that the consumer will experience the speed and efficiency of a normal vending machine but will be able to chat to the person that is handing them their snack. Beth Lyon, Kit Kat brand manager said: "We're delighted to be the first to bring this craze over from Japan. It fits perfectly with our latest ad concept and highlights 'Working Like a Machine' in the literal sense, as well giving commuters a fun experience at the same time."
