15th Apr 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
In support of UK Coffee Week, Huhtamaki partnered with the UK's favourite coffee shop, Costa, to create a larger than life replica of its iconic double wall takeaway cup.
Standing at almost 2.5m tall, the massive Costa cup was launched during UK Coffee Week on the Costa stand at the London Coffee Festival which ran from 8-10th April. Costa is a well-known brand and familiar sight on the nation's high streets, and this giant cup is an exact replica of the double-wall takeaway cup manufactured for them by Huhtamaki. The scaled-up version even features the ribbing and embossing which help make the Costa brand so recognisable, and demonstrates the expert design and development undertaken by Huhtamaki to provide the brand which such an impactful offering. John Young, UK foodservice sales and marketing director at Huhtamaki UK said: "We've been delighted to be involved with UK Coffee Week – a great event aimed at helping an extremely worthy cause. As one of the world's leading packaging manufacturers, we play a key role within the coffee industry and continue to develop innovative concepts which add to the vibrancy of the industry." Costa marketing director Jim Slater added: "We have a very close relationship with Huhtamaki, and it was great to have a little fun making this massive cup. The Costa takeaway cup is one of the most recognisable features of the Costa brand, and the work which Huhtamaki have done over the past year to produce our new recyclable version is truly ground breaking. Seeing the Costa cup in such a massive format is quite remarkable – it certainly elicited a lot of comments at the UK Coffee Festival." The massive Costa cup will now take pride of place in Costa's head office.
