Hosted by the National Association of Care Catering (NACC), The Duchess joined over 60 service users at the luncheon club at the Jubilee Centre, St Albans, as they enjoyed their Christmas party.
She took the time to talk with the service users about what the luncheon club means to them and about the impact it has on their quality of life. She was also introduced to the NACC national chair, Neel Radia.
Radia said: “We are thrilled and honoured that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has given her valuable support and time to this vital cause.
“The Royal visit was a wonderful tonic for the service users in St Albans. They were thrilled to be joined by the extra-special guest and the atmosphere was electric - it was a joy to be part of the incredible event.”
The Royal visit is part of The Duchess’ work to raise awareness of social isolation and loneliness in the community and helps to highlight the difference that luncheon clubs and meals on wheels can make to older people living independently in their own homes.
A luncheon club is a lifeline for many, giving people the opportunity to regularly socialise outside of their homes in a warm environment and benefit from a nutritious, delicious meal and wellbeing and safety advice.
