On average, a worker in the ‘accommodation and foodservice activities’ industry, which encompasses the hospitality sector, earned £240 a week in September 2015, down £2 from the figures in August 2015, but up 4.9% on September 2014.
Workers in the hospitality worked on average 28.8 hours a week between July and September 2015, up 2.5% on last years figures. The average across the whole economy fell 0.6% to 31.9 hours.
Vacancies in the industry rose 12.7% year-on-year between August and October; the industry reported 83 vacancies.
Across the entire UK economy, employment rose to a record high of 73.7% and unemployment is down to 5.3%.
