Abstract
Birmingham’s NEC closed its doors yesterday on 2015’s Hospitality Show, where for the last three days an array of exhibitors including catering equipment developers, foodservice suppliers and technology specialists showcased what they have to offer to the industry.

On day one of the event, the Knorr gravy train rolled into Birmingham International with a carriage full of chefs to escort them to the show in style.

Later in the day, Orderella won the Hospitality Show’s Star Product Award for its innovative mobile ordering and payment system. Orderella was crowned victorious at the Business Briefing Stage where all ten products were recognised.

Managing director of show organiser, Fresh Montgomery, Toby Wand, said: “Congratulations to Orderella on delivering such a stunning innovation – one that, according to judges, will set the agenda for the next decade, and well done to our deserved final ten – I know the judges had quite a task in separating them, such was the high standard on show.”

Sodexo chef Sam Sheridan picked up the Bronze Award in the Chicken Breast Challenge at the Live Theatre and in the Tilda Young Chef of the Year competition, Krisham Makol of Lexington Catering achieved Gold – Best in Class and Maria Dare Oio of the Compass Culinary Team achieved Silver.

On Tuesday, at La Parade des Chefs, the Compass Group Culinary Team scooped the Bronze Award for delivering their fine dining experience to Hospitality goers. Simon Webb of the Compass Culinary Team also picked up the Silver – Best in Class Award in the Canapé Skills Test.

On the final day, chef Simon Rogan (right) spoke to a busy Business Briefing Stage and announced his plans to open two new restaurants this year, including his first seafood restaurant, which will be located on the south coast.

In the Special Awards, the award for Best Kitchen/Larder Exhibit went to Mark Crowe, Elior UK, K4 Contract Caterers Challenge, and University College Birmingham, beat off competition to win the best La Parade des Chefs team award.
