Abstract
Senior UK hospitality figures have joined over 100 business leaders to sign an open letter in support of the Conservative government’s economic plans.

The list, dominated by pub companies, also notably included global caterer Compass, Costa Coffee and The Restaurant Group.

The letter, sent to The Telegraph, claims that the Conservative-led Government has been ‘good for business and has pursued policies which have supported investment and job creation'.

The letter also highlights support for the lowering of Corporation Tax to 20% and fears a change in course will ‘threaten jobs, deter investment and put the recovery at risk’.

The list of signatories included: Rooney Anand, CEO of Greene King; Ralph Findlay, CEO of Marston’s; Paul Walsh, chairman of Compass Group; Simon Townsend, CEO of Enterprise Inns; Andy Hamson, CEO of Whitbread; Alan Jackson, chairman of Restaurant Group; and Jonathan Neame, CEO of Shepherd Neame.

Chuka Umunna, Labour's shadow business secretary, told the BBC: “No one will be surprised that some business people are calling for low taxes for big businesses.

"But whilst the recovery may have reached some firms it hasn't reached many others which is why we will prioritise tax cuts for the smallest firms with an immediate cut in business rates for 1.5 million small business premises."
