Abstract
Hospitality checklist app Trail has taken another step in its pledge to create a greener industry by planting its 20,000th tree as part of the Ecologi project last month.

For every site that uses the app, Trail will plant one tree every month with the environment organisation that funds carbon offset projects in the UK. The Trail app is used by thousands of businesses every day for food hygiene, Covid checks and operations.

When businesses switch to Trail, they save an average of 100 sheets of paper per site per month by using its digital workforce management app. Trail has also pledged to become carbon neutral by 2030.

A recent hospitality survey found 83% of respondents expect hospitality brands to take part in sustainable practices, while 80% said that ‘sustainability was a deciding factor when choosing where to go for food’.

Joe Cripps, co-founder and managing director at Trail, said: “We want to turn our industry paperless, achieve carbon net-zero, and help our customers do the same. Since 2014, we’ve built a product that moves hospitality operations forward and transforms teams. Now, we want to extend our impact to the planet.

“We’ve taken a pledge to plant 500,000 trees and go carbon free by 2030, so I’m incredibly proud that we have reached the 20,000 milestone. With COP26 on the horizon, it has never been more important that as an industry that we pull together and grow greener.”
