Abstract
One victim of the impact coronavirus is the catering and hospitality charity Springboard, which is making a direct appeal for donations to help it continue its support and training mission after it says it lost its ‘main sources of income overnight’.

It works to help vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals with barriers to employment to obtain the skills, confidence and experience needed to enter work in the sector.

Springboard chief executive Anne Pierce said: “Covid-19 is having devastating impact on people’s lives and Springboard needs urgent help to continue providing crucial support services to 1,212 people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“These are people who should have already entered a fulfilling career within hospitality and transformed their lives, having graduated from one of our pioneering and award-winning employability programmes.

“These people are now struggling to cope without an income and are relying on us, more than ever before, to keep them engaged and motivated and to be able to access our services.

“Our expert team are innovating by using a variety of online tools and digital resources, making themselves available through our social channels, phonelines and by email, so that when we emerge from this crisis, these people will be ready and better able to secure employment.

“When this situation is over, Springboard will be vital to help rebuild and heal. Right now, we need you to help.”

With help from the drp group, Springboard is currently hosting a video on YouTube that tells the story of just three of the people it helps.

Pierce said she encouraged everyone in catering and hospitality to view it and then consider donating.
