Hospital chefs encouraged to attend sustainability & carbon workshops
Abstract
Phil Shelley, who chaired of the Hospital Food Review, has encouraged hospital chefs, leaders and dietitians as well as other healthcare professionals to attend one of the upcoming sustainability and carbon workshops.

The Healthcare Chef’s Knowledge workshop events are a collaboration between NHS England, NHS Supply Chain, The Chefs Forum and local colleges.

At these events NHS leaders such as Andrea Zick, Tim Radcliffe, Max Kindred, Nick Vadis and Michael Coaker will discuss placing food at the centre of sustainability and carbon analysis.

Shelley said: “The aim is to understand the challenges and opportunities surrounding food sustainability, which will create core principles to support healthcare teams in their purchasing, menu design and production of healthcare menus for patients, staff and visitors.”

The first workshop took place on Tuesday 28th January at the University of West London. There are five more events that are scheduled to take place, including:

  • Bradford College (4th February)
  • Food Works Southwest (11th February)
  • Northampton College (5th March)
  • South & City College Birmingham (12th March)
  • Bournemouth & Poole College (25th March)

If you would like to attend one of the free workshops, please email: philip.shelley1@nhs.net.
