Meals on Wheels Week aims to shine a spotlight on the vital delivery service which supplies meals to those in need across the UK. Last year Hobart partnered with the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) on an exclusive product giveaway.
The competition invited social media users to nominate an unsung hero - a person or healthcare site deserving of the machine. Harrogate Neighbours were nominated and drawn out of a hat as the eventual winners, choosing their care home site Heath Lodge as beneficiary of the new combi oven.
Tracy Southwell, managing director of Hobart, said: “Huge congratulations to such a deserving recipient. I’ve seen first-hand the great work that the service provides, and we are so proud to support Harrogate Neighbours and their commitment to meals on wheels. We couldn’t be more pleased that through our donation, a lot more people in their local community will benefit.”
Harrogate Neighbours are going to use the extra cooking capacity gifted by the oven to collaborate with Boroughbridge Community Care to expand their existing meals on wheels service. The new Ecomax combi will play a ‘pivotal role’ helping increase the food production and quantities of meals to those most in need.
Sue Cawthray, chief executive of Harrogate Neighbours, added: “The new oven will have such a positive impact on the kitchen as well as helping to develop our services in the future. We’re looking forward to working with Boroughbridge Community Care to not only continue the great work we do, but also expand our existing services later this year.
“Working with Hobart has been brilliant, and we greatly value the support from the team – especially from Evan Welsh (Hobart area manager for cooking). Evan has been vital in providing training to the staff and giving us confidence in the operation of our new oven.”
