Through analysis of the average number of searches per month for each type of pancake topping, the data revealed the UK’s favourite was banana with over 49,000 searches. In second place was blueberry pancakes with 9,900 searches and in third was chocolate pancakes with 2,900 searches.
Rounding off the top ten pancake toppings according to this research were bacon, spinach, strawberry, lemon, maple syrup, cream and honey.
Mimi Morley, culinary expert at HelloFresh, said: “Our data reveals that the UK has a sweet tooth when it comes to Pancake Day with only two savoury toppings making the top ten. Shockingly, more traditional toppings such as lemon and sugar did not make the top five spots showing some more modern, experimental recipes that have made their way to Pancake Day favourites.”
