Healthy lifestyles at Gloucestershire schools

12th May 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Ten primary schools and one secondary school from across Gloucestershire will be recognised for their success at promoting healthy lifestyles at the Gloucestershire Healthy Schools Celebration taking place tomorrow (13 May).
All of the schools have been assessed against National Healthy Schools criteria and have demonstrated their commitment in key areas of citizenship, drug education, emotional health and well-being, healthy eating, physical activity, and relationships education. The celebration ceremony will take place at the Hatherley Manor Hotel tomorrow and representatives from the schools will receive certificates from Linda Uren, director of commissioning & partnerships. Jan Urban-Smith, County children's health and wellbeing team manager, said: "Concerns about healthy eating, physical activity, and emotional health and well-being are at the forefront of most parents' and teachers' minds, as well as being constantly in the news."
