Abstract
Providing a range of nutritionally balanced meals for children of all ages, The Healthy Food Company has launched its services across the healthcare sector – marked by its agreement with Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset.

To celebrate, a pop-up event was held at the hospital on 29th June, where staff, patients and visitors sampled a selection of the food offerings that will be served alongside the hospital’s existing menu. Hot meals included cottage and fish pies, a vegetable chilli and chicken curry with rice.

Commenting on the brand’s focus on nutritional value and quality ingredients, Kay Shearing, manufacturing and product director at The Healthy Food Company said: “Every meal provides the perfect balance of carbohydrates, protein and good fats for children to support them in their development. Our meals never contain any artificial colours, additives or preserves and have no added salt or sugar.”

All guests were asked to submit their favourite children’s meal of all time - facilities manager at Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and immediate past chair of the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), Phil Shelley commenting: “The enthusiasm and drive of The Healthy Food Company shows a passion for patient food that all of us should reflect.”

This is the first NHS hospital that The Healthy Food Company is working with, founded by mother and daughter duo Kay Shearing and Donna Tresadern, who also work across the education, healthcare, care home and private sectors, helping caterers and chefs to provide healthier yet tasty menu choices.

Shearing added: “We are privileged to be part of the NHS meals service and we are passionate about improving food and nutrition in hospitals for all patients.”
