Abstract
School catering company Hertfordshire Catering Ltd (HCL) has announced the appointment of David Stanley as its new executive chef to drive innovation in school meals amid rising food costs.

With his experience across the food industry, Stanley will be spearheading HCL’s efforts to develop creative, nutritious and cost effective school menus that balance rising food costs with the latest food trends.

John Want, chief executive of HCL, said: “HCL is a school caterer for all, and David will help us deliver a superb package of food innovation to excite our current client base and those we engage with for new business. His deep understanding of modern food trends, sustainability, and cost-effective solutions will be crucial as we continue to meet the diverse needs of schools across the UK.”

School food service providers are under increasing pressure to innovate while adhering to tight budgets. HCL says Stanley’s leadership will play a pivotal role in their response to these challenges. His approach will introduce globally inspired meals, utilising seasonal ingredients to keep costs down while introducing new tastes and flavours that resonate with students.

Commenting on his appointment, Stanley said: “I’m thrilled to join HCL and lead the company’s food innovation strategy. There’s a huge opportunity to transform school meals into a more exciting, nutritious, and globally inspired dining experience. By focusing on sustainability, seasonality, and modern food trends, we can offer fresh, relevant meals while staying within budget and continuing to meet the nutritional needs of children.”
