HC-One care homes celebrate National Pizza Day
Abstract
HC-One care homes across the UK marked National Pizza Day (9th February) by eating a slice or two of their favourite pizzas as well as taking part in a variety of activities.

Activities included making their own personalised pizzas from scratch and experimenting by creating new creative sauces, dough recipes and topping combinations.

At HC-One’s Brierton Lodge Care Home in Hartlepool, chef Keith Parkins created a selection of different pizzas for residents to try from across the globe. The pizzas included the Neapolitan pizza from Italy, a Sicilian-style pizza and a New York-style slice.

Residents in County Durham enjoyed the pizza masterpieces and broadened their taste buds by tasting pizzas with unconventional toppings, including pineapple and avocado to spice up their pizza dining experience.

Keith said: “It was great to create a variety of different pizzas for residents to try to encourage them to explore different flavours and pizza styles. Residents thoroughly enjoyed broadening their taste buds and some have even said they’ve now found their new favourite pizza topping.”

At HC-One’s Summerville Care Home in Warrington a pizza and pop day was organised to say a big thank you to colleagues for all of their hard work and achievements over the past year.

Katie Bond, HC-One’s Summerville Care Home manager, commented: “It was great to be able to treat our colleagues at Summerville  by hosting a pizza and pop day to celebrate all of their achievements over the past year. Colleagues enjoyed reflecting on the year gone by whilst indulging in trying different pizzas and pop from the home’s local pizzeria.”

At HC-One’s Hollymere House and Primrose House Care Homes in Haslington a special garden pizza party was held for colleagues and residents to enjoy socialising whilst indulging in their favourite pizzas.
