Abstract
Non-profit organisation Harrogate Neighbours is helping people in the local community to celebrate ‘Special Moments’ this Valentines Day with the sale of afternoon tea boxes.

The boxes, which contain ham & cheese sandwiches and a selection of home-made cakes, will be priced at £9.95 and £1 from every box sold will be donated to Resurrected Bites which supports families affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking on behalf of Harrogate Neighbours, chief executive Sue Cawthray said: “Celebrating special occasions can be difficult to do in lockdown, particularly within the older generation, so we wanted to provide an affordable service that people could access to celebrate special days like Valentine’s Day, birthdays and anniversaries.

“We’re so lucky to have the kitchen space on site to create made-to-order boxes and the amazing volunteers who will help us to deliver the boxes.”

Celebrating their 50th Valentine’s Day together, Shirley and Mick Flynn, the first couple to move into The Cuttings, an extra care facility run by Harrogate Neighbours will be the first to receive a complimentary ‘Special Moments’ box on 14 February.

Michelle Hayes, director of Resurrected Bites, added: “We are so grateful to Harrogate Neighbours for fundraising for Resurrected Bites. I think it is such a lovely idea to provide an afternoon tea which will be such a lovely treat for people to look forward to.”
