Greggs, McDonald’s and M&B praised on Farm Animal Welfare
Abstract
The Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare report has recognised the work of Greggs, McDonald’s and Mitchells & Butlers.

Greggs has shown year on year improvement and joins McDonald’s in Tier 2 in the 2016 Benchmark, while Mitchells & Butlers has attained a Tier 3 ranking.

Malcolm Copland, commercial director, Greggs Plc, said: “The Business Benchmark provides a practical and respected framework, against which we can assess our progress and identify areas for improvement, ultimately driving positive change across our supply chain.

“We are proud to have moved our rating from Tier 3 to Tier 2 in the 2016 BBFAW report. This shows we are continuing to make good progress in farm animal welfare.”

A total of 28 foodservice and catering businesses were reviewed in the BBFAW report with five moving up at least one tier, four new entries, 14 non-movers and five companies falling a tier, including Compass Group, Whitbread and Elior.

Now in its fifth year, the report provides an annual review of how 99 of the world’s leading food companies are managing risks and opportunities associated with farm animal welfare.
