The scheme will initially run until the end of January 2021 focussing on job opportunities and practical support such as family meals. There are five key initiatives: training, meal provision, emergency cash funds, mentors and re-employment.
Monthly training sessions will be given to ex-employees to help improve their interview skills, their CV and they will receive lessons on how to write an effective cover letter. There is also an option for Green & Fortune to provide a weekly meal for the individual and their family if they need it.
Ex-employees are able to apply for emergency funding if they are struggling to buy school uniforms or unable to pay for transport to get to interviews.
Every former employee has been matched with a member of the team who will act as a mentor. Their role is to keep in touch with people and to provide them with advice and guidance. Green & Fortune has made a commitment that when they are able to recruit new workers their first port of call will be to past employees.
John Nugent, chief executive of Green & Fortune, said: “The business has gone through, and will continue to go up against, huge challenges that stem from the Covid-19 pandemic that has swept the globe. The hardest impact has been on our people.
“We pride ourselves on our ethos of people, product and personality, but unfortunately we had to make some tough decisions and say goodbye to amazing people in order to protect the future of the business.
“We don’t however underestimate the impact this will have had on these great individuals, especially with so much uncertainty in the industry and the job market currently. I’m pleased to say that the team and I have responded by putting energy and resource into this new programme to help those most affected. It is something very close to our hearts and we hope it will bring some comfort.”
