Global travel site names two British restaurants in Europe’s top ten vegan restaurants
Abstract
Pied a Terre in London and Acorn in Bath were voted as the third and eighth best vegan restaurants in Europe according to Big 7 Travel’s recent survey.

Big 7 Travel announced a list of the top 50 European vegan restaurants, from tiny vegan bistros to fine dining experiences. Acorn was the only fully vegan British restaurant to make it into the top ten.

Restaurants were chosen on their dedication to plant-based food and their promotion of sustainable food. Votes were cast by 1.5 million people on social media and by a panel of food experts.

Big 7 Travel said: "The 50 Best Vegan Restaurants in Europe 2019 showcase how creative vegan dishes can be. Whether you've made the switch to veganism or not, these restaurants are a must-visit."

It is predicted by 2040 that only 40% of the global population will be consuming meat, with 35% consuming clean (lab) meat and 25% vegan meat replacements. A 2010 United Nations report highlighted the need for a global shift towards a vegan diet in order to save the world from hunger.

Richard Buckley, owner and head chef at Acorn, said: "We show our guests the beauty and taste of cooking with plants without relying on ‘fake meats' or ‘fake cheese'. They have their place however we are passionate about fine dining and showing how delicious plants can be.

"To be counted in the top 10 vegan restaurants in Europe is fantastic and means a great deal to us all. And we are delighted to be the only fully vegan restaurant in the UK in the top 10 winners."
