Abstract
Contract caterer Genuine Dining has joined forces with Just Ask A Question (JAAQ) to launch a mental health café in London.

JAAQ is a new mental health platform, which offers answers to 50,000 interactive questions across 50 topics. It enables users to access experts on mental health as well as people with shared experiences.

The team at Genuine Dining has agreed a deal in partnership with their clients TOG & Fora, to launch a mental health coffee shop in TOG Whitechapel, London which will serve JAAQ coffee.

Tim Axe, managing director of Genuine Dining, said: “When JAAQ came onto our radar I knew there was an opportunity to create a partnership that could add a huge amount of value to our Genuine foodies and clients. TOG have been hugely supportive of this new platform and have recognised that through coffee we can break the stigma attached to a conversation about mental health.

“At Genuine Dining our core values focus on food, of course, but we wouldn’t be the business we are without our people. In these uncertain times, a partnership such as this is a key part of our well-being strategy as well as enabling our clients and partners to know that the people delivering their foodservice are supported.”

The specialist barista team will be mental-health first aiders, which means they will be trained to recognise signs of emotional distress. In an impact report recently shared by Hospitality Action, this Autumn has seen 35% of beneficiaries directly referencing mental health issues around the cost of living crisis.

Danny Gray, founder and chief executive of JAAQ, added: “The JAAQ coffee shop is the first mental health coffee shop where people can have a coffee and get access to world leading experts. We are so excited to partner with Genuine Dining to make this a reality and can’t wait to see how this is going to help people.”

JAAQ coffee along with the app, launches on 25th November 2022. The coffee shop will be serving a range of ethically sourced coffee, teas and drinks and a range of local cakes, pastries, healthy snacks and salads.
