Key speakers include Emily Miles, chief executive officer at the Food Standards Agency, Helen Munday, president of the Institute of Food Science & Technology and Tom Forshaw, senior policy analyst at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
Michael Ryan, deputy editor of the Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum, said: “The conference will be a timely opportunity to discuss the way forward against a backdrop of significant changes in the landscape and as the UK sets its own course for regulation and standards following Brexit.
“The sector also faces critical challenges as a result of Covid-19, while other issues involve developments in consumer preferences and opportunities such as novel foods prompt innovation and new approaches by food and drink businesses.
“Delegates will assess the implications for UK food safety, standards and regulation, as well as the outlook for the sector, and priorities for conditions and pressures arising from future trade deals.
“They will also address how regulation needs to adapt to underpin consumer safety at a local and national level.”
Other speakers through the day will be Professor Mark Booth of Food Standards Australia New Zealand; Dr Emma Bradley, Fera Science; Sue Davies, Which?; Sian Edmunds, Burges Salmon; Dr Sally-Ann Krzyzaniak, Tate & Lyle PLC; Kate Nicholls, UK Hospitality; David Pickering, Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards and Chartered Trading Standards Institute; and a senior representative from BSI Group is also confirmed.
The event will be chaired by Deidre Brock MP, co-vice chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Food and Drink.
