Abstract
‘If music be the food of love, play on, give me excess of it’. That's the first line of Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night and this week’s food facts all have a musical connection.

•    Pennyroyal Tea is a song by Nirvana, and refers to a herb with small lilac flowers that has been used for centuries to treat colds, fevers, indigestion and cramps.
•    Classical composer and coffee lover JS Bach wrote a piece known as the Coffee Cantata with the line ‘Ah! How sweet coffee tastes, more delicious than a thousand kisses’.
•    Actor Kelsey Grammer, who starred as the title character in the TV comedy Fraser, actually sang its theme song ‘Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs’.
•    There is a specially landscaped section of Central Park in New York called Strawberry Fields that is dedicated to the memory of John Lennon, who was shot nearby.
•    The song American Pie by Don McLean was inspired by the death of Buddy Holly on February 3rd 1959 – ‘the day the music died’.
