Brioche con gelato
Abstract
The National Geographic has highlighted the best eight food destinations to visit for 2025. We have found a food fact about each of the eight gastronomic destinations.
  • Mexico City, Mexico: Mexico City is known for Its Antojitos, which are small and flavourful snacks that are typically sold by street vendors. These include items like tamales, quesadillas (fried or soft tortillas filled with cheese and other ingredients) and tlacoyos (thick corn tortillas filled with beans or other fillings).
  • Sicily, Italy: In Sicily the local population likes to eat brioche con gelato for breakfast (pictured).
  • Cumbria, UK: The Cumberland Rum Nicky is a traditional Cumbrian dessert. This pastry is made with dried fruit and rum-soaked breadcrumbs, wrapped in a pastry shell and baked.
  • Alabama, USA: Fried green tomatoes are particularly popular in Alabama. The unripe tomatoes are sliced, coated in cornmeal or flour and fried to a crispy golden brown.
  • Cape Town, South Africa: A traditional South African dish popular in Cape Town, bobotie is a spiced minced meat casserole, often made with lamb or beef. It’s baked with an egg-based topping and served with rice, chutney, and sometimes a side of vegetables.
  • Busan, South Korea: Busan is famous for its eomuk (fish cakes), which are made from minced fish, flour, and various seasonings.
  • Croatia: In Croatia, the average person consumes about 75 litres of beer per year. This equates to roughly 150 pints of beer annually. Local beers include Ožujsko, Karlovačko and Tomislav.
  • Catalonia, Spain: Catalonia is the world’s largest producer of Cava, a sparkling wine. The Penedès region, located just outside Barcelona, produces more than 80% of the world’s Cava.
