Abstract
We're back and ready for another year of Fun Friday Food Facts, kicking off with this week's round-up below.
  • A 10-pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum was the first ever item to have its barcode scanned when bought – it happened at an Ohio supermarket in the US in June 1974
  • All parts of an egg are edible, including the shells as they are high in calcium
  • In countries such as Cuba, Spain, Portugal and Hungary, pork is thought to bring good luck as pigs are known to never move backwards, and so symbolise progress
  • In the ancient Arab culture there was only one way a woman could legally divorce: If her husband didn't provide enough coffee
  • Cadbury's has taken a leaf out of Willy Wonka's book by launching a white chocolate Creme Egg with the chance of winning £2,000. They have exactly the same packaging as their milk chocolate counterparts, and are only 350 - 400 of the limited edition eggs available. As an added bonus, any buyer could win up to £2,000, with every 85p egg worth at least £100. The ultimate prize egg is on sale at a Co-op supermarket, while 33 others worth £1,000 are hidden in newsagents, Sainsbury's Local, Tesco Express and Co-op branches
