- Vodka stays liquid even in your freezer because it typically has a freezing point of nearly -27 deg C, while most domestic freezers can’t go lower than -17 deg C.
- Chewing gum is part of the US army’s field and combat rations. Soldiers consume gum at a rate of 5 times that of the national average.
- Who doesn’t love Nutella? So much so that a quarter of all hazelnuts on this planet are used to make the spread! Rumour has it, demand for hazelnuts has grown so much that universities are trying to grow them in labs to fight against global shortages.
- Only 4% of Danes are lactose intolerant, while the figure for South Korea is close to 100%. Globally it is estimated two-thirds of people cannot properly digest milk and dairy products.
- To get the most juice from lemons or limes, put them in the microwave for 30 seconds as it will help the citrus juice flow more easily.
- Oh how times change! Delicacies such as lobster and oysters used to be considered ‘poor man’s’ food - lobster because it’s quite literally a sea creature, so it was a hard sale and often thrown back in the sea or fed to prisoners.
