The frozen food distributor has become an ‘associate member’ of LACA, which was established in 1990 and includes both public & private sector providers, client officers, dieticians and individual schools.
Northampton-based Central Foods supplies hundreds of different lines into foodservice, ranging from vegetarian food to puddings. It currently sells to more than 240 independent wholesalers and foodservice caterers across the UK.
Gordon Lauder, managing director of Central Foods, said: “Central Foods is a key supplier of frozen food products to schools and the education sector in general, providing a wide range of pre-prepared sweet and savoury items.
“We are excited to have joined LACA and look forward to forging new links and strengthening our existing ties with other organisations and individuals who are involved in the important role of providing school meals in the UK.”
The LACA network is the country’s largest provider of school catering, with three million lunches being served every day in 27,000 schools.
