Abstract
The Queen’s former chef has launched a new menu of some of Her Majesty’s favourite dishes for food delivery service Just Eat.

The exclusive menu by Darren McGrady is available from Wolfe’s Bar and Grill in central London and will include Gleneagles pâté of smoked trout, salmon and mackerel mousse wrapped in smoked salmon and served with sauce suèdoise.

Diners can also order Gaelic steaks with a fillet of beef or venison in a whisky and mushroom cream sauce served with rice.

In an interview with The Times, the former royal chef said: “The Queen is very disciplined. It is partly that and partly her genes. That’s what keeps her so slim — cutting out those carbs when she is not entertaining.

“At a state banquet she might have halibut with a lobster mousse and champagne sauce. But the rest of the week it is healthy eating.

“If she has fish it will be something like grilled salmon with some vegetables and a nice salad. Then a bowl of fruit would be her pudding. If it is meat it is often game. She might have a venison steak, or a little piece of pheasant — that’s fantastic protein. There is no fat or anything like that.

“She would cut out all the carbs. She does not have any bread with the meal. She would not have any potatoes, any rice, any pasta. It would just be the vegetables.”

It's not all healthy eating though, as McGrady confesses: "The Queen is a chocoholic. She loves chocolate. But the discipline is that she will just have a tiny piece of it at a meal. She loves Bendicks Bittermints. Chocolate ice cream with Bendicks Bittermints is something she would enjoy.”

McGrady served the Queen for 11 years, before also working for Diana, Princess of Wales. He now lives in Texas.

The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations are set to be in full swing this weekend as she prepares to welcome 10,000 guests to The Mall for the Patron’s Lunch.
