While predominantly a supplier to supermarkets and convenience stores, Palmer & Harvey, or P&H, has also operated in the foodservice sector and been a supplier to numerous UK restaurants.
P&H supplied ambient, chilled and frozen food product lines to around 90,000 customers from 14 regional distribution centres.
According to various sources, P&H has called in administrators from PwC following the collapse of talks over a rescue takeover by Carlyle Group, an American private equity firm.
The administrators said: “The group has been by hit by challenging trading conditions in recent months and efforts to restructure the business have been unsuccessful. This has resulted in cashflow pressures and it has not been possible to secure additional funding,” reported the Times.
