Abstract
A new trade show devoted to take-away food is being launched at ExCeL on October 16-17.
Run by a company called easyFairs, the Food On The Move show will, say organisers, "showcase the full range of innovations and developments in retail and production for the fast food and food-to-go sector, including small-to-medium sized food production.
"From raw ingredients to new franchise concepts, and from big household names to niche suppliers, this show encompasses the whole food-on-the-move supply chain."
In 2005, the out-of-home food and drink market was worth £350 billion in Europe and the UK leads the way, spending more per capita on food consumed in transit than any other European country (source: Datamonitor).
With this increased demand comes increased competition and the need to differentiate, for example with innovative in-store presentation. Food-to-go operators must also address health and environmental concerns, the quality of ingredients, pack information and reduced wastage. Exhibitors will get to reach a highly targeted audience in a trade show environment, while visitors are offered the chance to get right up to date with the latest innovations, services and trends, as well as networking opportunities.
Alongside the exhibition will run a programme of free learnShops, presentations from industry experts on a range of business, technical and operational issues such as applying retail principles to foodservice, franchising, consumer trends, making the most of demand for halal and vegetarian options and packaging.
