All applicants need to do is demonstrate that they do the following and earn a badge for each: cook, grow, share skills and pledge. Once all four badges have been collected, they’ll achieve the Nourishing Communities Award.
To celebrate achieving a Nourishing Communities Award, awardees will receive a certificate of achievement, a poster and a window sticker to show off their award. Food for Life Walsall says good food is healthy and nourishing, supports the local economy, is good for the local environment and is good for the planet.
To support local groups to deliver community activities, Food for Life and Walsall Council are offering grants to community groups who are working towards the accolade. Applications for the Nourishing Communities Award are open all year.
Food for Life has been working with Walsall Council’s public health team since 2017 to make good food the norm by improving school meals, food leadership and food education. Since then, over 18,000 children in Walsall have benefitted from Food for Life activity in their school.
