First year students urged to take part in new food contest

15th Sep 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Ginger Jar Food is looking for three London-based first-year students to take part in a new food competition.
The food company is seeking for three not-so-foody students to commit to attending a free, once monthly cookery class between now and Christmas where they will learn three recipes with three key ingredients, and then take part in competitive Christmas cook-off. To enter the challenge students should visit the Ginger Jar University [Food] Challenge page at www.ginger-jar-food.com/gj/challenge. There is a short application form to complete which asks for details and reasons for applying. A day of interviews will be held later this month. Classes will be held in October November and December. Following the students' progress a cook-off will be held at Christmas time where the students will have to cook a three course meal for each other, plus some guest judges. The students will be working within a tight budget with a set bag of ingredients to help them focus the skills they have learned. They and the judges will give each dinner party a mark out of 10. The prize will be dinner for two at the best Italian restaurant in town, Passione by Gennaro Contaldo on Charlotte Street.
