Abstract
Organisers of the South Asian Chef Competition (SACC) have issued a final call to all chefs able to produce the very best of South Asian cuisine to take up the challenge.

Now in its 10th year, the organisers are looking for professional chefs nationwide to put their creative skills to the test and develop a selection of innovative South Asian dishes, using their own original recipes, in order to win the coveted title of UK South Asian Chef 2014.

They say that so far the calibre of the entries received has been very high, which will make it a difficult task for the panel of expert chef judges to choose the eight chefs going forward to the final, but they would like to see more.

These judges represented by the Craft Guild of Chefs, the catering industry and the education sector will assess competitors’ skills and also their knowledge of South Asian cuisine.

The deadline for entries is September 20, and the final will be held on October 20 at the International Food & Travel Studio, which is part of Bradford College.

The awards will be presented at the Aagrah Annual Business Dinner at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. These include a first prize of £2,000 plus membership of the Craft Guild of Chefs, runner up receiving £1,000 and second runner up £750, plus two further special prizes each of £100 for the most innovative dish and health-conscious dish.

To enter the competition, visit www.southasianchefcompetition.com and complete the application form and send it with the requested documents to: SACC UK, 4 Saltaire Road, Shipley, BD18 3HN.
