Organised by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for school food, the event has been set up to look at schemes to feed children during the school holidays to ensure the most vulnerable do not miss out on a decent meal while they are not at school.
It aims to raise awareness of non-term time child hunger in the UK, share practice in international innovation holiday meal and activity programmes, and discuss causes and possible solutions to progress with policy makers, practitioners and communities.
The day’s programme consists of speaker presentations, question and answer sessions, workshops and exhibitions, which will collate the views of attendees into a short follow up report for dissemination to UK government.
An international perspective will be given from the United States Department of Agriculture on the challenges and lessons that can be learned from its summer meals programmes.
Workshops will run in the afternoon and includes a how to make holidays fun for children and families session, which will be run by the Children’s Food Trust.
