Abstract
Hospitality businesses upped their hiring efforts in Q3 2018, with job vacancies up 7.6% on Q2 it was today (23 October) revealed.

Despite the warm summer apparently boosting the hospitality job market, CV-Library warned that the sector still has “a long way to go if it hopes to bridge the on-going skills gap.”

That said, salaries were up 1.1% industry-wide this quarter and hospitality came ninth on the list of top industries to find candidates right now, with 16,500+ candidates having registered in Q3

Lee Biggins, CV-Library founder and managing director, saod: “Despite unemployment being at its lowest rate since 1975, employer confidence is stronger than ever. But while more hospitality candidates are showing interest in a new job, application rates aren’t keeping pace.

“If we hope to bridge the on-going skills gap and start strengthening the workforce, hospitality organisations need to focus on targeting passive candidates and pulling out all the stops to attract the right people to roles.”
