Love British Food, the organisation behind the celebration of British produce, has held four farm visits for NHS caterers aimed at getting more of it served in hospitals by showing NHS caterers the benefits first-hand of sustainable and regenerative farming practices.
Feedback from the visits shows 82% saying they will be taking part in this year’s British Food Fortnight.
Of those, 44% said they will run a British-themed menu, while others plan to showcase British food on existing menus or to introduce one or more British products.
More than half (52%) said they will run a British Food Fortnight menu on both retail and patient menus; the rest were split evenly between either focusing on the patient or retail menu.
Alexia Robinson of Love British Food said: “Four farms visits completed, with far more to come - we’re just getting started.”
Two further farm visits have already been confirmed, one on September 22nd in Oxfordshire and one on October 27th in Northern Ireland.
