Denise Rawls, FareShare’s public affairs manager, said: “Through this campaign we aim to help combat the issue of holiday hunger, FareShare’s #ActiveAte programme will supply food to over 200 holiday projects this summer, providing nutritious meals and snacks for approximately 20,000 children across the UK.
“The projects we are supporting offer food and fun activities to ensure that children can enjoy their summer holidays on a full stomach and return to school happy and healthy.”
ActiveAte aims to:
1. Inform and educate our supporters about the difficulties faced by some families and their children in accessing nutritious food during the summer holidays.
2. Drive up appropriate food donations from the food industry for the charities and community groups that help to support these children during the holidays.
3. Give our audience the opportunity to donate financially to FareShare.
Rawls added: “There are a variety of campaign materials and imagery which will all be rolled out over the next few weeks so that we are visually representative of the whole population.
“The data we are citing comes from the report ‘Hungry Holidays’, All Party Parliamentary Group on Hunger, April 2017 and the campaign has been informed by our relationships with stakeholders, charity partners and the FareShare network.”
