Costa has been working with FareShare for several years to share surplus food to help feed vulnerable people, including donating 70 tonnes of food in 2020 alone.
Emma Brown, commercial officer at FareShare said: “Our long-standing relationship meant that Costa Coffee supported us throughout the pandemic by sending good-to-eat surplus food regularly, which we could redistribute to vulnerable people throughout the UK.”
Costa Coffee franchises exist across the public sector in universities, NHS sites and military bases.
A Costa Coffee spokesperson added: “Food waste is a huge challenge globally and we all have a part to play in reducing it. That is why Costa Coffee is proud to have partnered with FareShare since 2014 to help donate surplus food from our supply chain to incredible charities and community groups that support vulnerable people across the UK.”
