The glass, which is being installed in both the east and west walkways of the tower, will mean events at Tower Bridge, such as weddings, dinners and conferences can experience unique views over London.
Colin Sayers, managing partner of Seasoned, said: “Having been Tower Bridge’s venue management partner since 2009 we’ve hosted many exceptional events in the Walkways. We’re extremely proud of our partnership with the most famous bridge in the world and the glass floor project is so exciting to be involved with.
“Tower Bridge is a very special events space and is the only bridge in the world that you can dine on, but the new glass floor adds a completely different dimension to the space and will be a real thrill for clients and guests.”
The £1 million project has been in development for two years and is being funded by the Bridge House Estates and City of London Corporation.
Christopher Earlie, business and marketing manager of Tower Bridge, said: “We are extremely proud to unveil the new glass floor on the high-level walkways. For the first time ever, visitors will be able to experience a never seen before viewpoint of London - the Thames, road and pedestrian life, all moving at pace 42 metres below.”
Seasoned Events, the catering arm of Crown Group, have over 30 years experience in the event catering sector, focusing on the food, drink and service industries. In addition to their partnership with Tower Bridge, they have a portfolio covering film premieres, product launches and charity events, amongst others.
The West Walkway of the tower opened on November 7th, with the East Walkway due to open on December 1st.
