ETZ Payments founder reveals which industries will be most affected by Brexit
Abstract
Nick Woodward, founder of ETZ Payments, has revealed that he believes the food and drink manufacturing industry will be most affected by Brexit.

Woodward believes Brexit is likely to result in a large increase of workers from the EU leaving the UK, affecting five key industries.

He thinks the industry most likely to be affected by Brexit is food and drink manufacturing industry. This is because migrant labourers from the EU make up over 30% of all workers in the manufacturing of food products. Especially in jobs like processing cheese and meat, making bread goods and animal slaughter.

Woodward said: "With such a short period of time to go before the UK is due to leave the European Union, there is still some confusion about which sectors will be hit most by one of the most vital political debates in UK history.

“For workers from the EU, a huge number of industries rely heavily on the talent pool from continental Europe, such as construction and manufacturing.

“More needs to be done by the government to reassure workers, whether they are full-time employees or contractors, of how Brexit will impact their careers and even their ability to work in the UK.”

The Migration Advisory Committee estimates that migrant workers over his or her lifetime will make a £78,000 contribution to the public purse (taxation). In 2017 the average EAA (European Economic Area) migrant donated £2,370 more for the Treasury than the average British-born adult.

The other industries that make up the top five industries most likely to be affected by Brexit are domestic personnel and care; accommodation workers; warehouse and support for transport and the mining for metal ores industry.
