The awards aim to focus on the achievements of women below senior management or director level, representing the female talent pipeline and the next generation of future leaders. They also recognise the efforts of senior leaders who are championing gender equality.
Freeman was nominated by Leanne Turk, Compass Group UK & Ireland head of culinary development, in celebration of his commitment to driving equality in the workplace. As an ally of Compass’ Women in Food Network, Freeman views gender equality as an ‘essential characteristic’ of a successful workplace.
As well as encouraging female colleagues in his own team to progress, he is supportive of diversity and inclusion across the wider business. This has included the introduction of adoption leave for new parents, supporting the implementation of a Menopause at Work Policy and regularly attending Women in Food events.
