Entries open for Welsh food & Drink Awards

1st May 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Entries have opened today for the annual Wales The True Taste Food & Drink Awards.
The awards are being hosted by Denbigh born Bryn Williams. There are 18 award categories catering for all areas of food and drink production, retail and hospitality sectors as well as a new Export Achievement Category. Also launching today is the Truetaste.tv, a website dedicated to the awards which will keep people in touch with developments in the competition. In addition, the site offers information on this year's awards and categories, profiles of all of last year's winners, and gives links to various food festivals, events, markets and restaurants. Williams said: "I am delighted to endorse the True Taste Awards as I am a great believer in using British produce, and particular produce from my native Wales, wherever possible. I already use many True Taste Award winning products in my restaurant and I am proud to shout about good quality local Welsh ingredients." Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones, continued: "Year on year the True Taste Awards have grown in popularity and stature. The awards have succeeded in emphasising Wales as a producer of high quality and innovative produce and are recognised by consumers and the food and drink industry as a sign of excellence. "I am sure the 2009/10 True Taste awards will build upon the success of previous years and I hope Wales' food and drink producers will take the opportunity to enter. By so doing they will give their products - and Wales as a whole - the culinary platform they deserve."
