Abstract
Encore Hospitality Services has won the catering provider contract at City of Glasgow College.

The contract is for four years, and is worth £4.8m to Encore. The City of Glasgow contract means that Encore will operate all catering outlets for students and staff in the buildings the college inherited from the three previous establishments which make up the new supercollege in Cathedral Street – but that will also extend to all outlets in the Super Campus which is about to be built.

Encore already runs all catering operations at nearby Caledonian University – where it has been the provider for the last 12 years, having won three successive contracts, again against all the major global catering providers.

Between the two education establishments, Encore will cater for well in excess of 50,000 students and staff on a daily basis.

Janis Carson, vice principal of City of Glasgow College said: "We are delighted to have Cordia on board following this strategic decision to integrate and improve our catering services post merger. City of Glasgow College looks forward to working in partnership with Encore to drive quality improvement, service standards and customer satisfaction at what is an exciting time for our College. “

Cordia managing director David Melvin, added: "Make no mistake about it, this is a significant contract on a UK scale that was firmly on the radar of the biggest catering companies in the business. These companies brought their considerable resources to bear in a bid to take this work, and it is an outstanding achievement to have won it against such competition.”
