With over 800 pupils aged between 13 and 18 years old, Elior serves up around 18,000 meals a week – three meals a day served across 12 dining rooms from three kitchens with a team of 15 chefs and a total of 60 catering staff on site.
Elior will be investing in significant improvements to the facilities over the next 12 months by building an additional kitchen in the middle of the Old School, closer to where the pupils eat and sympathetically refurbishing the dining rooms. The Elior team aims to increase capacity and further improve the quality of meal service and the overall dining experience for pupils.
David Williams, Bursar at Charterhouse, commented on the partnership: “I believe in developing long-term relationships with suppliers, creating a foundation of knowledge and trust. Knowing our suppliers and working closely with them, encourages continuity. And it’s not always cosy – I can be very demanding indeed, but Elior always delivers.”
Nick Darby, Elior’s catering manager at Charterhouse added: “We have improved our food offer and service at Charterhouse by talking to our customers more. We have gathered feedback from pupils and their parents and this has helped us to provide a more varied balanced diet – more of what the pupils want. We never forget that Charterhouse is not only a school, but a home from home for its pupils.”
