Abstract
Catering company Elior this week announced a ‘record’ 18 aspiring chefs have graduated from its 2018 Chef School.

Designed to ‘give people in non-culinary roles the skills and confidence they need to start their careers as chefs,’ the nine-month training programme teaches students skills such as making fresh pasta and filleting fish.

They also worked with a number of high profile chefs throughout, including Jason Atherton, Anton Edelmann and chocolatier William Curley.

Putting the 2018 class to the test, graduates were only awarded their certificates after serving 50 guests at the graduation lunch, which took place 10 July at Coventry College.

Stuart Nisbet, who led the Chef School, said: “Chef School continues to go from strength to strength and attracts more and more talent each year.

“Not only because of the skills students learn, but the experiences it affords them.

“Seeing so many students graduate this year is incredible. It’s great news for the future of Elior, for the industry as a whole, and for our 2018 graduates. For them, this is just the beginning.”
