From April 1st, Brookwood will be providing contract catering services for the pupils and teachers of Greenbank Preparatory School in Cheadle Hulme near Manchester.
Sue Parfett, Brookwood managing partner, said that following requests from bursars for the company to bring its services to the region, it established a permanent presence in the north nearly a year ago.
Maggie Steed, the company’s business development manager for the north, has been promoting Brookwood’s services. In addition, the company’s leadership team recently hosted the first Northern Bursars Conference.
Says Parfett: “Having been born in Yorkshire, I was very keen to see Brookwood expand its borders into a region I know very well.
“With the number of opportunities available, requests for our services and our success in the south, it made business sense to start to operate in the north.
“We are all very excited to have won our first contract in the region and judging by the interest we’ve received, it won’t be long before we see further contract gains.”
Meanwhile, Brookwood and Hilden Grange School in Tonbridge Kent, were recently awarded the Gold level award from Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council in its Healthy Eating Award scheme.
Created by the council, the award is set up to encourage food businesses to reduce the amount of salt, sugar and saturated fat in their catering services and increase the availability and consumption of fruit and vegetables.
Managing partner Kate Martin said: “We work hard to ensure we continue to lead the way when it comes to providing fresh food in schools. Our catering teams are committed in creating the very best, fresh, locally produced healthy food.
“In addition to this, we offer a variety of programmes in which we can help promote and educate pupils in adopting a healthy diet whilst at school and into the future.
“I am delighted that the efforts of Andrew (Owens, chef manager), his team and the school have been acknowledged in this way.”
