1st Sep 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
The school catering company, Eden Foodservice, is getting Autumn term off to a positive start with the launch of its new menu which will focus more attention on healthy natural foods.
Designed to be healthier for pupils thanks to the introduction of regional produce, daily baked bread, and fresh meat and vegetables the new menu will be available to pupils across the Truro area. Coinciding with the new menu launch, the catering company has joined forces with Interserve Education to provide a full range of catering services including breakfast, mid-morning break and lunch at 16 primary schools and one secondary school which form the Cornwall PFI 2 group of schools. And Eden Foodservice commits itself to preparing all food on-site using fresh ingredients and has provided its catering team with training in preparation for the start of term. The new menu will focus more heavily on healthy meals, using farm-assured Red Tractor products wherever possible. Carl Winder, facilities manager, at Interserve Education said: "Eden Foodservice has demonstrated its ability to provide a cost-effective, high-quality catering solution, which will ultimately improve the service we offer. "Their proven track record and vast amount of experience delivering group contracts will enable us to improve all aspects of the school meal operation and result in a wider option of tasty and healthy food for our pupils." Simon James, managing director of Eden Foodservice said: "We will work closely with Interserve Education and each individual school to increase the overall food quality and eating experience. "Our priority is to provide high quality catering solutions using fresh and regional ingredients, whilst engaging with all stakeholders including pupils, teachers, parents and employees to promote healthy eating and boost uptake of school meals."
