Eden managing director Hugh Walker said: “Cucina has a fantastic synergy with us and a very complementary product range.
“It’s a natural fit; from a business perspective it makes perfect sense and for our customers it will mean a wider choice of dishes and services.”
Stefano Ispani, managing director of Cucina Catering, said: “I prefer to think of this more as a marriage than a merger.
“I’ve known Hugh and Nick (Mead) for many years – and despite previously being competitors we’ve always been good friends.
“We look forward to thrilling Cucina and Eden customers with some exciting new dishes over the coming months.”
They jointly said that customers of both businesses have been informed and told about the benefits they can expect as a result of the companies joining forces.
Cucina Catering products and services will fall under the Eden brand as part of the merger. The Eden headquarters in Waterloo has also been enlarged to cope with the increased demand.
Cucina was formed in North London in 2002 and has carved a niche as a food supplier for corporate and personal clients.
Eden Caterers was formed in 1993 and the company’s customer offering includes Eden Express and Eden Events divisions and the personalised dining service Eden by Adrian Collischon.
