EAT. raises over £35,000 through ‘Fit and Fed’ campaign to combat holiday hunger

EAT. has raised £35,193.61 through its national partnership with children’s charity StreetGames whose initiative ‘Fit and Fed’ helped to combat holiday hunger and inactivity.

The amount raised will provide support to 350 children during the school holidays by serving a total of 5,500 meals. Holiday hunger is a growing problem as three million children in the UK are reliant on school meals to provide them with nutritious meals.

The ‘Fit and Fed’ campaign, which ran from 19 June to 3 September, highlighted the necessity of nutritious food and fitness during the summer holidays. 

Holly Oades, customer director at EAT., said: “We are incredibly proud to have raised over £35,000 for this brilliant cause, completely smashing our target of £25,000.  

“We are delighted to build on our existing relationship with ‘Fit and Fed’, helping raise awareness and vital funds to achieve their goal to reclaim the summer holidays for children across the UK.”

EAT. supported the children’s charity in store and online encouraging customers to donate. Some EAT. stores enabled customers to blend their own fresh smoothie using an exercise bike for a £2 donation.

Mandy West, head of corporate and major donor fundraising at StreetGames, added: “It's been enormously rewarding to work with EAT. on this campaign, which has not only raised an incredible amount of money but has also helped to put the spotlight on the issue of food poverty and holiday hunger in the UK.

“We are incredibly thankful for the work of all those involved, and for the kindness of so many of EAT.'s customers in choosing to donate. The money raised will go towards helping us to tackle holiday hunger for thousands of children.”
